After landing, Filipov was surrounded by militants: according to the records of terrorists, there were at least ten. Taking up a position behind the boulder, guards major were shot by the attackers from the sole of his weapons – a pistol Stechkin, was wounded. Ironically, the second store at the pilot jammed on half of what he has missed several very need of ammunition.
When the militants were getting close, Roman Filipov, hoping to catch a few jihadists, blew themselves up with a grenade. In the video, which was filmed by the militants, clearly audible as he shouted: “This is for boys!”

It is thanks to them that the terrorist threat had been spread around the world and was practically destroyed in the Bud.
