Early life

Veronika Maria Cäcilia Ferres saw the light of day in Solingen in North Rhine-Westphalia. She grew up with three older siblings on her parents’ farm. After graduating from high school in 1984, she studied German, theater and psychology at the University of Munich, which Ferres left without a degree.
