the Ministry of justice of Ukraine is studying the possibility of filing new claims against Russia to international courts, the head of Department Denis Malyuska.
“Now we are thinking about reasonableness and possibility of filing one or two lawsuits in the near future”, – quotes its RIA Novosti.
to Reveal details of possible claims the Minister did not, stressing that it is a question of initiative. He stressed that now the process is at the stage of collecting evidence and justification.
Ukraine in recent years has filed several lawsuits against the Russian authorities. In 2016, Kiev has initiated the arbitration proceedings, citing the UN Convention on the law of the sea and demanding to confirm its rights as a coastal state in the Black, Azov seas and Kerch Strait, and to oblige Russia to pay compensation.
Ukraine has Also filed a lawsuit against Russia in international court of justice in the winter of 2017, accusing Moscow of illegal arms shipments and discrimination of the Crimean Tatars. In April of the same year, the court refused to satisfy the demand of Ukraine on temporary measures concerning Russia in the context of a suit under the Convention for the suppression of the financing of terrorism, but partially granted the position of Kiev on the Convention on the elimination of racial discrimination.
in addition, Ukraine has filed five lawsuits against Russia to the ECHR , on two – charges of human rights violations in Crimea and the Donbass, one accused of abduction of children-orphans and children with disabilities.
