Short introduction

Tom Brady is the most successful quarterback in NFL history. He reached the Super Bowl 9 times and won it 6 times. In addition to this top value, he set numerous other records. Since starting his career in the NFL in 2000, he has played continuously for the New England Patriots. His marriage to the Gisele Bündchen model also brought him further attention.

Early life

Born in California, Tom Brady was a frequent guest at NFL games, especially at the San Franciso 49ers, through his father as a child. That is why the then quarterback of the 49ers, Joe Montana, became the model for the young Tom Brady. In high school, however, he only played baseball.

That changed at college, where he started playing football, but was initially only a reserve player. In his last two college years, he was a starting quarterback who set some records, such as most pass attempts and most successful passes in one season. Both seasons he was elected to the All Star Team of the Big Ten Conference. In 1998 Tom Brady and his college won the Florida Citrus Bowl and in 1999 the Orange Bowl.

The following season he was drafted by the New England Patriots, but only at the 199th place in the draft. So he was initially only No. 4 of the quarterbacks. But that changed in the first year of his work as an NFL professional, which marked the start of an unprecedented career.

Career

In his second season with the New England Patriots, he became the starting quarterback due to an injury to the first quarterback. After initially moderate performances, the team only lost another game this season with Tom Brady. That’s why his team moved into the 2001 Super Bowl, which Tom Brady, who had suffered minor injuries in the semifinals, won directly in his first full season.

One could not have guessed that many more of these titles would follow. At first, the following season, the playoff move failed to win the Super Bowl again in 2003. In 2004 she even defended her title, a relatively rare event in the NFL.

In 2005 the Denver Broncos failed in the playoffs, making Tom Brady his fourth playoff defeat in his fourth year as a starting quarterback.

In 2006 they failed again in the playoffs, the following year Tom Brady made a “perfect season” in the regular season with a score of 16: 0, but then lost in the Super Bowl with 14:17 against the New York Giants.

In 2008, he injured himself more seriously for the first time, right in the first game of the season, in which he could no longer play. In the following season, however, he convinced again with old quality and new records. He was the first player in NFL history to throw five touchdown passes in just a quarter. He later got 358 throws without an interception, which was also a record.

By the Super Bowl 2024, which he did not reach, he had made 9 finals. His popularity did not abate various scandals surrounding his team. So he was one of the protagonists of the so-called “Deflategate” when his team had illegally played with too little air in the balls. Most recently, he won the Super Bowl in 2019 at the age of 41.

Career highlights

The one-time achievement of winning the Super Bowl six times as a quarterback is the absolute culmination of this career, which has not even ended. Nine appearances in the Super Bowl are also a record, but his entire achievements over almost two decades must be regarded as fascinating. In this respect, a single highlight in Tom Brady’s career can hardly be made out.

There are also a number of personal awards. So Tom Brady was twice (2004 and 2007) the Sportsman of the Year of the Sporting News. He was once male athlete of the year (2004), 4x MVP of the Super Bowl and was eventually elected to the team of the NFL decade of the 2000s.
