With the books of the “Twilight” saga, US author Stephenie Meyer (46) has landed a worldwide hit. The first book in the series, “Bis (s) zum Morgengrauen”, was published in 2005. The story about shy high school student Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen was also made into a film and triggered real hype. Now there are replenishments for all fans: Meyer has announced a new book on the TV show “Good Morning America”.
As of August 4, 2024, “Midnight Sun” is to be launched in the US, as the author announced in a video message. She was aware that due to the Corona crisis, it was not the best timing. But since many fans had been waiting for the work “so, so long”, she found it unfair to delay the publication even further. “Hopefully this book can be a distraction from the real world,” said Meyer.
In “Midnight Sun” the happening of “Bis (s) Zum Dawn” is told from the perspective of vampire Edward. Meyer had already published a draft of the first chapter on her website in 2008. “His side of the story has so much more to offer than that of Bella,” the author said at the time. Edward’s view of things from Bella’s first day at Forks High School was a hundred times more exciting than her own.
The “Twilight” saga comprises four volumes: “Until (dawn)”, “Until (s) at noon”, “Until (s) at sunset” and “Until (s) the end of the night”. In the five films – the finale got two parts – Kristen Stewart (30) starred Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson (33) as vampire Edward Cullen. The films washed over $ 3.3 billion into the box office worldwide. It is still unclear whether Stephenie Meyer will also publish the other books from Edward’s perspective.
