the Moscow Government and the Federal state of Bavaria (Federal Republic of Germany) signed a joint statement on cooperation. Their signatures on the document was signed by Sergei Sobyanin and Prime Minister of Bavaria Marcus Seder.
“We have prepared a new statement of cooperation, which I hope will give additional impetus to the development of relations in the field of economy, social spheres between the two regions for the benefit of residents of Bavaria and Moscow”, – said the mayor.
According to him, Bayern and the Russian capital has long-term partnerships.
“We cooperate in various fields of economy, industry, transport, health, education, culture. There is perhaps no single field where there would be cooperation between our companies, organizations,” – said Sobyanin.
He reminded that Metropolitan hospital is equipped with equipment from Germany, and in the transport sector involved the train “Swallow”, which was created based on the platform of Siemens of the eponymous German company.
Seder expressed gratitude for the reception and said that comes to the capital for the fourth time, and noted how things have changed and developed in Moscow.
“Bayern already has long supported – a tradition of good relations with Moscow. Despite this General political atmosphere, our earth and your city is always very well worked” – said the Prime Minister.
He also added that the Bavarian authorities want to organize the Days of Moscow in the territory of the Federal state to put a similar event in the capital of Russia.
According to the document, the main directions of cooperation of the Russian capital with Bayern will be the exchange of experience and implementation of joint projects in such spheres as economy, science, culture, construction, education. The parties plan to maintain the practice of holding joint days of economy, which became the launching pad for many bilateral projects.
Representatives of the two regions will regularly participate in exhibitions, seminars and symposia held in Moscow and Bavaria. Bavarian schoolchildren will take part in the competition of cities, which is held annually in Moscow.
Several joint cultural events planned in the framework of the Year of Germany in Russia, which will be held from August 2024 to July 2024-th. In particular, representatives of the music school of the Bavarian town of Wurzburg will participate in a Congress on musical analysis, which is organized by Moscow state Conservatory named after Tchaikovsky. A group of Moscow youth will be invited to participate in the theme session of the summer camp “Clarifying the fate of Russian prisoners of war – deeds, perception, culture of memory”, organized by the Museum of memory of the concentration camp Flossenburg.
In the framework of the Year of Germany in Russia in Moscow also planned the festival of Germany in Sokolniki, the launch of the themed trains for the circle line, dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, which will play excerpts from the composer’s works, as well as the German-Russian art exhibition in the Historical Museum and the Tretyakov gallery.
Germany is a key trade and economic partner of Moscow. It ranks second in terms of foreign trade turnover. In 2018, the trade turnover between Moscow companies and their partners grew by 4.1% compared with the 2017 year and amounted to 12.5 billion U.S. dollars.
For the first nine months of 2019, it increased by another 4%, to $ 9.5 billion. In Moscow there are over 500 enterprises with the German capital. The volume of investments from Germany in the economy of Moscow – 7.7 billion dollars. By this indicator Germany ranks seventh among foreign countries.
Among foreign countries Germany holds the second place (after China) in the number of tourists coming to Moscow. For the first nine months of 2019, the capital of Russia was visited by 268 thousand citizens of Germany – on 5% more than the year before.
the Partnership between Moscow and Bavaria are built on the basis of the Protocol on cooperation, signed on 18 April 1991, and subsequent documents that elaborate on and develop different areas of cooperation.
