History 15/03/20 Sisters Hitler: what became of them after his brother’s death
Adolf Hitler had promised his people greatness, than put it on the edge of ruin. The Fuhrer and his faithful Eva Braun ignominiously killed himself in April 1945, leaving no offspring. But still alive relatives of Hitler, among them sisters Angela and Paula, and cousin Mary. Their life was inextricably linked with the life of the leader of the Third Reich and irrevocably changed after his death.
Older sister
angel was almost 6 years older than Adolf was born in 1883, of second wife Alois Hitler, Francisco. The girl was barely a year since her mother died at the age of 23 from tuberculosis. Soon his father took up with a cousin’s niece Clara, who was much younger than her husband. The Church’s permission to marry had to seek in Rome, the local Bishop refused the wedding because of the close relationship of the bride and groom.

Paula Wolff

At the request of her brother she changed her name, becoming Paulo wolf. Hitler told her such a move “for her own safety”. After angel left the manor Berghof, the farm passed into the hands of younger sisters.

War and the last years of life

In 1952, she again moved to Berchtesgaden under the name Paula wolf, where she lived in seclusion in a small apartment until his death in 1960.

Maria Koppensteiner (nee Schmidt) was the daughter of the aunt of Hitler for mother Theresa. In 1955, Chancellor Konrad Adenauer had made the repatriation from the USSR, detained in custody prisoners and interned Germans. Maria Koppensteiner not waited for this day – she died, according to one, in Verkhneuralsk prison on 6 August 1953 (according to others, December 18, 1954).
