Short introduction

Sebastian Vettel is a German racing driver from Heppenheim. He is one of the most famous drivers of Formula 1 and has won the World Championship several times. As a driver of Toro Rosso, Red Bull Racing and Ferrari, Vettel collected several thousand points in the drivers’ championship for the World Championship and is therefore one of the most successful German participants in the competition of all time. Sebastian Vettel won the 2010 World Cup for the first time and was only the second German to do so in Formula 1. He is also one of the few racing drivers to win four World Cup titles in a row.

Early life

Sebastian Vettel was born on July 3rd, 1987 in Heppenheim in Hessen. He has two older sisters and a brother, Fabian Vettel, who has also been a racing driver since 2017. He met his future wife Hanna at school. Sebastian Vettel’s father brought him to karting, because he had his own kart and had Vettel trained in it. Between 1995 and 2002 Sebastian Vettel was mainly karting and won the German and European championships for young people. Vettel was supported by the first sponsors as a child and had been a participant in the Red Bull youth program since 1998. Kart dealer Gerhard Noack, who previously also supported the Schumacher brothers, also supported Sebastian Vettel.

Career

For Eifelland Racing, Sebastian Vettel started in Formula BMW in 2003, winning five races in his premier season and finishing runner-up. Vettel set a record the following year. He was under contract with Mücke Motorsport and won 18 out of 20 races, making him a clear leader. From 2005 he took part in Formula 3 for the racing team. Sebastian Vettel had been allowed to take part in Formula 1 for BMW Sauber for the first time since August 2006 and was initially set as a test driver on Friday.

Sebastian Vettel made his debut as Robert Kubica’s replacement driver on June 17, 2007 and finished eighth at the US Grand Prix. In the same season, Vettel was signed by Toro Rosso and competed in all other races of the season instead of Scott Speed.

In the 2009 season, Sebastian Vettel finally started for Red Bull Racing and counted there as a regular pilot. From then on, Vettel won several races. The fight for the world title was stopped in the end by too many failures. In the end, however, he was one of the favorites to win the drivers’ championship the following season. It was only in the last race that he was able to push himself into first place with a win, becoming the youngest world champion in the history of the racing series at the age of 23.

Over the next three years, Sebastian Vettel was able to defend his World Cup title with some superiority. From 2014, however, Mercedes began to dominate Lewis Hamilton, so that he was denied another title under Red Bull. At the start of the 2015 racing season, Sebastian Vettel took over Ferrari’s cockpit, but was unable to build on the old successes and had to let Mercedes go in each of the World Cup races.

On June 17, 2007 Sebastian Vettel drove his first race in Formula 1 for Sauber and immediately scored his first point eighth place. Finally, on 13.09.2008 he landed for the first time on pole with his Toro Rosso in Monza and also won the race as the youngest driver to date to do so. At the end of the season, the then Red Bull driver was able to call himself Formula 1 world champion for the first time. He was then recognized as Germany and Europe’s athlete of the year. Sebastian Vettel suffered his most serious accident even before his career in Formula 1. In a Formula 3 race in Spa, he raced into the barrier at 274 km / h and almost lost his index finger due to this crash. However, the half-cut finger was successfully sewn on again.
