According to the famous “Guinness Book of records”, the person with the highest growth was American Robert Pershing Wadlow. He grew up to 2 meters 72 centimeters. However, in Vitebsk province in the late XIX – early XX century lived Fedor Machnov, the growth of which, according to some, did not reach 3 meters in just 15 centimeters.

Russian Gulliver was born in 1878 in Vitebsk province (present-day Belarus) in a small hamlet, located near the village of Kostaki. His father and mother and brothers and sisters also had high growth. But Fedor beat them all. In addition, according to eyewitnesses, Mahnov possessed remarkable physical strength. Even as a child he could lift from the ground a grown man or throw a mountain of loaded baggage.
In his youth, Fyodor growth was more than 2 meters. The length of the palm of the young man were about 30 centimeters, and the soles – 51 cm.
