Quavious Keyate Marshall (born April 2, 1991 in Athens, Georgia, USA) is an American rap artist. Quavo was born to a normal family in Athens, USA. His mother brought him up with his cousin Chiari, who is also a rap artist today and known alias Offset, and his grandson, Quavo’s nephew Kirshnik, better known as Takeoff.

Early life

Quavo attended Berkmar High School in Lilbourne, Georgia, and was a point guard on her American football team. In the seventh grade, Marshall begins studying hip-hop, including writing his own music – along with his cousin and nephew. In order to make a career in the music industry, they interrupt their school education and leave high school. They create a kind of trio that starts to write music and lyrics. They become very popular in their circles and perform in local clubs, restaurants and small music festivals organized by local DJs.

Marshall received the MVP Award during the 2018 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game after performing 19 points and winning. In 2019, Marshall played the “Away” roster during the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game at the Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Career

Quavo founded the rap group Migos in 2009 together with Takeoff and Offset. In 2011 he released the first mixtape called Juug Season. Another mixtape called No Label followed next year. Nevertheless, his group only became known in 2013 with their breakthrough song “Versace”, which took first place in the charts. This was followed by other works that could finally make the trio famous. After a slight delay due to disagreements over drug abuse, their debut album finally appeared in July 2015.

Quavo recorded a joint mix tape called MigoThuggin in 2016 with the American rapper Young Tag. On January 18, 2017 he also released another mixtape, Young Rich Niggas 2. His second album Culture was released on January 27, 2017 and received positive reviews from music magazines. It takes first place in several billboard charts: Billboard 200, Top R&B / Hip-Hop albums, Canadian Albums Chart. In October 2018, Quavo released a solo album Quavo Huncho.

Nothing is known about the rap artist’s private life, except for cases of criminal prosecution related to the use of narcotics. Quavo has a daughter, Louise Morley Cochrane.

Migos became known in 2013 after the release of their single “Versace”. The song was remixed by Canadian rapper Drake and reached number 99 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and number 31 on the Hot R&B / Hip-Hop songs. Quavo had his first lead single as a solo artist with the song “Champions”, in which several other artists participated. The song reached # 71 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was finally gold certified by the RIAA. Quavo also released “Ice Tray” with Lil Yachty on December 14, 2017. The song reached 74th place on Billboard Hot 100. On December 21, 2017, Quavo announced that he would release Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho with Travis. His album had eight songs that debuted on the Billboard Hot 100. On January 26, 2018, Migos released Culture II. Quavo released three singles for its upcoming debut solo album, “Workin Me”, “Lamb Talk” and “Bubble Gum”, with “Workin Me” both Billboard Hot 100, the highest placement to date from Quavo, with which 52 place peaked. On May 18, 2019, Quavo and Madonna played “Future” at the grand finale of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.

Career highlights

On April 18, 2015, the authorities stopped a Migos concert at Georgia Southern University and arrested all three members of the group and several members of their community. Quavo has been accused of possession of an unspecified List II narcotic, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm in a school security zone, and possession of a firearm while committing a crime. He was released from prison against bailouts and later raised no objections to the marijuana sentence. He was sentenced to a twelve-month prison term, which was suspended on parole.
