John Michael Osbourne, better known as Ozzy Osbourne, is an English rock musician. He was the lead singer of the hard rock band Black Sabbath. He was also successful as a solo artist worldwide. Early life

John Michael Osbourne grew up in Birmingham, England, as the child of a working class family with five siblings. The family lived in a two-room row house under poor conditions. He got the nickname Ozzy when he was at school. Ozzy had great difficulties at school due to his poor reading and spelling skills.

He left school as a teenager and tried to earn money for his family with various odd jobs. The poor pay for these jobs even made him a criminal. He tried as a burglar but was caught and had to go to prison for six weeks. There he tattooed his nickname on his fingers, which is one of his trademarks today.

After his prison stay, he wanted to try himself as a musician. He bought a microphone and amplifier from borrowed money and advertised an advertisement at local music stores. Then the first line-up of the band Black Sabbath came together. From 1969 to 1979 the band appeared with Ozzy as frontman. In the nineties, the studio solo albums “No more Tears” and “Ozzmosis” followed. “Down to Earth”, “Black Rain” and “Scream” appeared in the two thousand years. But other live albums were released.
