For some, the Munich Oktoberfest is a popular tradition and reason to celebrate, for others it is big business. Because of the Corona crisis, the world’s largest folk festival cannot take place this year. The risks of contracting the virus are too great.
Dirndl designer Kathie Rezalou, who dresses numerous celebrities like Lilly Becker (43) or Verona Pooth (51) every year with her Munich label Alpenprinzessin, was very disappointed. “The failure means a financial and emotional roller coaster for us as well as for so many entrepreneurs,” she explains in an interview with the news agency spot on news.
The designer currently doesn’t have much room for other plans, “because everything is so uncertain. We are therefore working on the further development of our collection and are offering our customers discounts on this year’s orders and pre-orders for next year, ”explains Rezalou. In addition, “we sew beautiful makeshift masks for our customers”.
Rezalou had expected the cancellation, but she had hoped until the end that the Oktoberfest could take place. “But we are aware that it is the only right decision to cancel the Oktoberfest this year. The health of everyone is a top priority. ”Instead, she is investing her energy in the 2024 collection, which she is particularly looking forward to. “For this year we are reminiscing about beautiful memories.”
