Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier (CDU) does not want to give Germans any hope of a normal vacation season. He could “not pretend security that does not exist,” he said on Thursday at “Bild Live”. “Every citizen must know that nobody can guarantee that a booked trip will actually take place.”
Many decisions would be made completely independently of developments in Germany, said Altmaier. Most holiday pilots are currently on the ground because most countries have closed their borders and withdrawn country permits to reduce the risk of infection. Nobody knows how the situation is developing.
