Early life
Lena Johanna Therese Meyer-Landrut was born in Hanover in spring 1991. She is an only child, and her mother raised her alone after her father left the family in the early 1990s. Meyer-Landrut’s grandfather was the German ambassador to Russia.
As a child, the later singer was interested in various dances such as ballet, jazz dance or later also show dance, which is composed of several types. In 2009 Meyer-Landrut gained his first acting experience with mini roles in series such as “K11” or “Richter Alexander Hold”. In the same year she also applied for the casting of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Meyer-Landrut took part in the Eurovision Song Contest at the age of 18. She was in the middle of her A-levels and had her exams examined in sports and history. Meyer-Landrut initially enrolled in studying languages and culture. However, since success increased steeply after the Eurovision Song Contest, she finally decided against visiting the university.
Career
At the casting of “Our Star for Oslo” in March 2010, Lena Meyer-Landrut prevailed against 4,500 competitors. Just two months later, she took first place in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with 246 points, with several million people watching her. Meyer-Landrut performed here with their most famous song “Satellite” and immediately got a record deal.
Meyer-Landrut took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 again, this time with the song “Taken By A Stranger”, and took 10th place. That same year she released the second studio album “Good News”, followed a year later by “Stardust”. In 2015 the singer released “Crystal Sky” with the successful release “Traffic Lights” and worked on a children’s song project and the soundtrack for “Fack ju Göhte 2”.
Lena Meyer-Landrut has been running her YouTube channel with the name “helloleni” since 2015. She also built up a stable TV career: In five seasons she was a juror on the casting show “The Voice Kids”, also worked on the dubbing of several films and has been working as an advertising medium for a cosmetics brand since 2013.
In 2018 Meyer-Landrut’s comeback followed with the very emotional song “Thank You”. This was part of her album “Only Love, L”, which was released a year later.
