In his lifetime, Tshekede Bufton Pitso was only known to initiates in South Africa, but now that should change! The 74-year-old politician was one of the chiefs of the Bantu ethnic group Hlubi and thus something like a vice mayor of the small town of Jozana in the South African province of Eastern Cape. He owned a small supermarket chain and started driving Mercedes early in the 1970s. “There were two types of cars for him: Mercedes – and the rest,” explains Pitso’s daughter. When his supermarkets went bankrupt and he could no longer afford the expensive car, he preferred to walk rather than switch to another model! But when he died, he struck again!
Just before he died, Piso struck again and bought an old E-Class! From then on, he also used the car as an office to handle appointments and business. Now he died – and was buried in the Mercedes! Not lying down – no, behind the wheel – tied with cable ties … everyone has their own!
