Moscow plant Karat, known as a manufacturer of processed cheese “Druzhba” and “Yantar”, may choose to move part of production from Russia to Belarus. For such actions the company’s management can go due to the introduction in Russia of mandatory labeling of dairy products, RBC reports.
the New rules will take effect from 1 June 2024. The experiment, which involved marking Data Matrix codes, was launched in Russia from July 15, 2019. It was launched as an alternative to the system “mercury”. At the moment manufacturers are opposed to the simultaneous introduction of the two systems.
with regard to “Carat”, the General Director of factory Evgenie Grebnev has noticed that the equipment for application of markings will not work to install on all the production. 14 lines of the plant must be retrofitted, and 2 places in the production hall no. According to the representative of Center of development of advanced technologies (CRPT), producers will be allowed to use three formats of the marking – printing codes in the printing, labeling for finished products and printing codes directly on production. The first two methods, thus, will require minimal investment.
