Also more stars

The protests against racism after the death of African-American George Floyd in Minneapolis, who died in a hospital after a brutal arrest by US police officers, are also supported by numerous celebrities. However, while many stars only make a short statement on their social media channels, others reach into their pockets to support charitable organizations that, among other things, provide legal assistance and want to act against police violence – especially against black people.

In an Instagram story, rapper Drake (33) shows, for example, that he donated $ 100,000 to “National Bail Out”. The Weeknd (30) did the same, donating the same amount. The singer also transferred $ 200,000 to the Black Lives Matter Global Network and The Colin Kaepernick Know Your Rights Camp. Together, that’s more than 530,000 euros. The Weeknd also asked all celebrities with “deep pockets” to donate.

Previously , actor Ryan Reynolds (43) and his wife Blake Lively (32) had donated $ 200,000 – around 180,000 euros – to the civil rights organization NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). Singer John Legend (41) and his spouse Chrissy Teigen (34) announced that they also wanted to give $ 200,000. And former professional boxer Floyd Mayweather (43) said he wanted to cover Floyd’s funeral expenses .

Countless social media users, including many international stars, have meanwhile named Tuesday “Blackout Tuesday” to protest against racism. They posted millions of mostly black pictures under the hashtag #blackouttuesday.
