Football has been played in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga since last week. However, due to the corona pandemic, no viewers are allowed to play. On the way to the away game in Nuremberg, the Ergebirge Aue team now had to digest a severe shock. Because the team bus was involved in a serious traffic accident on the A72.

Because of the game between 1. FC Nürnberg and Ergebirge Aue that took place this evening, the guests had already made their way to Franconia yesterday. On Thursday afternoon, the team’s bus was about to drive onto the A72 motorway at Hartenstein in the direction of Hof when a BMW suddenly came flying towards the vehicle. The uncontrolled vehicle easily collided with the front of the bus and then overturned. “A vehicle came flying and probably touched our team bus,” said shocked Aue President Helge Leonhardt to the “Bild” newspaper.

The bus driver had been able to prevent a major accident by braking hard on his mind. A few glass panes broke on the bus as a result of the impact, some of which was broken into the interior of the bus, but neither the players nor the Erzgebirge Aue supervisor were injured in the accident. The driving of the BMW, however, suffered serious injuries. Another occupant of the accident car was also injured. After initial investigations, the driver of the BMW had probably wanted to leave the highway, but lost control of the vehicle due to the high speed in a tight curve and was thrown towards the floodplain bus.
