“I am healthy again”
Manuela Schwesigs (45) cancer therapy was successful. The SPD politician and Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania confirmed this today (May 12) . She had made her breast cancer diagnosis public in September 2019.
“I am glad and grateful that I survived my cancer therapy well,” Schwesig explains in a statement. “I am healthy again, even if there is of course no guarantee for me, like for many others.” A residual risk remains, which is why Schwesig continues to be checked medically and remains in treatment. “It’s been the hardest fight in my life so far.”
Schwesig was carried by a “wave of encouragement, encouragement”, but the past few months had not left her without a trace. Therefore, the 45-year-old will carry out a so-called “follow-up treatment” in the coming weeks, in which she wants to gain new strength. Her family is of course very happy about her recovery.
Schwesig also thanked her accordingly – as well as the doctors, nurses, the citizens and their politician colleagues, including in particular Malu Dreyer (59).
