Short introduction

Unge’s real name is Simon Wiefels. He is a German YouTuber and has a total of over 3.2 million subscribers. He became known primarily through Let’s Plays about the computer game “Minecraft” and larger projects with this game.

Early life

Unge was born on August 31, 1990 in Erkelenz near Mönchengladbach. There he grew up with his siblings with his parents. His father died when he was nine years old. After that, his mother raised him and his siblings alone. In 2013 he completed his training as an educator and worked in an institution with mentally disabled people. In his spare time, he started uploading videos to various YouTube channels. Unge started his Let’s Play channel, through which he became known, in 2013. In 2014 he moved to Cologne, where he started to focus exclusively on YouTube and Let’s Plays. There he lived with other YouTubers in several shared apartments. In 2017 he moved to Hamburg. At the end of 2018, he emigrated to Madeira with his girlfriend, where he still lives today.

Career

In 2011 he opened his first YouTube channel “easy”, on which he published videos about longboards and dreadlocks. In early 2012, he published vegan recipes on the channel “unproblematic”. Both channels have been discontinued.

In July 2012 he started to release Let’s Plays for the computer game “Minecraft” on the new channel “unplayed”. He was the initiator of several major “Minecraft” projects in which other YouTubers also participated.

At the same time he published regular unlogged vlogs and real-life videos on the channel.

In December 2014, Unge uploaded a video in which he discussed problems with his network Mediakraft Networks. The network has repeatedly failed to keep promises. Videos would also be deleted or not published without prior consultation. Mediakraft Networks is also said to have threatened to drive Unge into private bankruptcy if it tried to leave the network by legal means. In 2015, he set this video to “private” so that it can no longer be accessed. It became known that Unge had terminated the contract with Mediakraft Networks and that it is now expiring. From the end of December, no more videos were published on the “unplayed” and “unfilmed” channels.

Unge then opened the “unge” channel, which he used as the main channel for eight months.

In summer 2015 he signed a contract with the network Maker Studios.

In August 2015 he declared on the channel “unplayed” that he would upload his Let’s Plays there again and on “unused” his vlogs. In May 2016, a last video was published on the “unung” channel, in which he informed about the future of his channels. He only wanted to publish all videos on “unplayed”.

In September 2016, he opened the “unclicked” channel, where he mainly uploads videos in which he responds to other videos.
Since November 2019, the “Portrait” channel has been its main channel, on which it uploads vlogs every day. This channel had over 271,000 subscribers two months later.

On the lifestream platform Twitch and on YouTube, he regularly publishes lifestreams on various topics, such as: B. Let’s Plays and Vegan Diet.

Career highlights

In September 2014 he went on a longboard tour across Germany. Also there were the YouTubers Dner, whose real name is Felix von der Laden, Cheng Loew and Julien Bam. The start was in List on Sylt. The tour went via Kiel, Hamburg, Leipzig, Halle, Magdeburg to Füssen to Neuschwanstein Castle. They were accompanied by a team from the Stern TV show, where Unge and Dner were guests after the tour. In addition to the reportage, daily vlogs were uploaded to “unfilmed”.

In 2015 he made a trip around the world. He started this with YouTuber Anton Reyst. Later he continued it with different companions. The trip started in Los Angeles. The following goals were determined by the viewers using a specially programmed app. So that the accompanying persons could also work on further projects, the world tour took place with interruptions.
