Early life
Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro was born on the Portuguese island of Madeira. Together with three siblings, he grew up in poor conditions. At a young age of only three, Ronaldo was enthusiastic about football and started this sport. As an eight-year-old, he played in the amateur club CF Andorinha. Ronaldo’s talent was noticed early on and two years later the two leading clubs in Madeira, Nacional Funchal and Marítimo Funchal, were very interested.
